For many years I thought that I was only suffering from depression,
not realising that it was linked to Homesickness.
It took some research and some soul searching to realise that there was more to it than that.
Many of us at some point in life have experienced Homesickness,
but what are the symptoms.
How do you know you have it and that it is not something else?
Symptoms of Homesickness
Homesickness usually starts off psychologically before manifesting itself in a physical way.
According to psychologenie.com, you can start to experience symptoms before you even leave home.
I have listed some of the more common symptoms for you below:
Emotional Symptoms:
constant thoughts of home,
feelings of deep sadness,
depression,
frustration,
anger,
feelings of hopelessness,
feelings stress or anxiety,
feeling insecure,
feelings of grief,
mood swings,
difficulty concentrating,
loss of self confidence,
Physical Symptoms:
Muscle cramps
ulcers
headaches
vomiting
diarrhea
upset stomach
get the shakes
appetite fluctuations
insomnia
nausea
Everyone experiences homesickness differently.
If you are feeling homesickness it is important to talk to someone about this.
